About Us

Northern Illinois Law Enforcement Chaplains (NILEC) was founded on the idea of helping law enforcement individuals and their families. Law enforcement chaplaincy is truly a ministry of presence.  We strive to meet the needs of all law enforcement officers/deputies right where they are, on the job and in the field.  Since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest.

NILEC is headed up by executive director, Rev. Randy J. Young.  Rev. Young has been involved in law enforcement chaplaincy for over 11 years. Throughout these years, Rev. Young has established himself in the law enforcement community of n Northern Illinois.  He is a well respected peer and a highly devoted chaplain to all law enforcement agencies that call upon him.  In those 11 years, Rev. Young has volunteered over 8,000 hours to this cause.  He is currently the senior chaplain/community service liaison for the Winnebago County Sheriff's Police and serves as chaplain for several other agencies.  He is a member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, the executive director of the Blackhawk Critical Incident Stress Management Team, a board member to the Northern Illinois Police Memorial Week Planning Committee, and a consultant to many other law enforcement committees and organizations.  Rev. Young was just recently honored to be a 2011 "Spirit of Caring Award" nominee for the Crusader Community Health Foundation.

NILEC's focus must always be on our communities greatest assets, our first responders.  We position ourselves right along side of these incredible individuals, to help them, encourage them, pray for them, and most importantly support them and their families.  We are always looking for organizations, businesses, and individuals to partner with us in prayer, in financial donations, and also in doing the work of this important ministry.
